In accordance with Section 22(c) and Part V of the Local Government Reform Act, 2014 to elect the Cathaoirleach of the Roscommon Municipal District to hold office until his/her successor shall have been appointed in accordance with law.

Cllr. Mc Dermott opened the meeting and welcomed everyone.  As outgoing Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Mc Dermott thanked the members and staff for their support during the year and sought nominations for the position of Cathaoirleach of the Roscommon Municipal District for the forthcoming year.

On the PROPOSAL of Councillor Dineen

             SECONDED by Councillor Shanagher

It was AGREED that Councillor Waldron be elected Cathaoirleach of the Roscommon Municipal District to hold office until his successor shall be appointed in accordance with law. As there were no other nominations, Cllr. Waldron was deemed to be elected.

Cllr. Waldron thanked the members for their support in electing him.  Congratulations were expressed to Cllr. Waldron in conjunction with appreciation to everyone for their help during the past year.  The members thanked Cllr. Mc Dermott for his hard work during the past year.

Councillor McDermott sought nominations for the position of Leas-Cathaoirleach of Roscommon Municipal District for the forthcoming year.

It was AGREED that Councillor Fitzmaurice be elected as Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Roscommon Municipal District to hold office until his successor shall be appointed in accordance with law.  As there were no other nominations, Councillor Fitzmaurice was deemed to be elected.

Councillor Fitzmaurice thanked everyone and is looking forward to the year ahead. The members congratulated Councillor Fitzmaurice and wished him well.

Monday, 20^th November, 2023 at 10 a.m.

Monday, 15^th January, 2024 at 2 p.m.

Monday, 11^th March, 2024 at 10 a.m.

Monday, 20^th May, 2024 at 2 p.m.

The provisional list of dates for meetings was discussed.  It was proposed to hold the meetings on the same day as the Council meetings commencing at 9.30 a.m.  A revised schedule of dates and times will be issued.  The next meeting due to take place on Monday, 17^th July at 10 a.m. was changed to Monday, 24^th July at 9.30 a.m. 

The members offered congratulations to Majella Hunt, Director of Services who is retiring after 42 years and wished her well in her retirement.
