Election of Cathaoirleach

In accordance with Section 22(c) and Part V of the Local Government Reform Act, 2014 to elect the Cathaoirleach of the Athlone Municipal District to hold office until his/her successor shall have been appointed in accordance with law.

 

Minutes:

Cllr. D Connolly welcomed everyone to the AGM of Athlone Municipal District. He thanked his fellow Members and the Staff of Roscommon County Council for their support and co-operation over his term in office and extended best wishes to the incoming Cathaoirleach for the forthcoming year.

 

Cllr. D Connolly invited proposals for election of the Cathaoirleach.

 

It was Proposal by:   Cllr. L Fallon

        Seconded by:    Cllr. V Duffy

 

That Cllr. Emer Kelly be elected as Cathaoirleach of Athlone Municipal District.

 

As there were no other nominations for the position of Cathaoirleach it was deemed that Cllr. Emer Kelly be elected Cathaoirleach of the Athlone Municipal District, to hold office until her successor is appointed in accordance with the law.

 

Cllr E Kelly thanked her proposer and seconder and fellow Councillors for nominating her for the role of Cathaoirleach, and is looking forward to working with all the Members and Staff of Roscommon County Council in the forthcoming year.

Cllr E Kelly paid tribute to Cllr D Connolly leadership and commitment over the last year as Cathaoirleach and is looking forward to building on his work in the coming year.

 

The Members and Director of Services extended their congratulations to Cllr. E Kelly on her election as Cathaoirleach and wished her well in the forthcoming year.

 

Members also thanked Cllr D Connolly for his commitment and leadership during his term as Cathaoirleach.

Election of Leas-Cathaoirleach

In accordance with Section 22(c) and Part V of the Local Government Reform Act, 2014 to elect the Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Athlone Municipal District to hold office until his/her successor shall have been appointed in accordance with law.

 

Minutes:

Cllr E Kelly sought nominations for the position of Leas-Cathaoirleach.

 

It was Proposed by;  Cllr D Connolly

          Seconded by: Cllr L Fallon

 

That Cllr Valerie Duffy be elected as Leas-Cathaoirleach of Athlone MD.

 

As there were no other nominations for the position of Leas-Cathaoirleach it was deemed that Cllr. Valerie Duffy be elected as Leas-Cathaoirleach, to hold office until her successor is appointed in accordance with the law.

 

Cllr. V Duffy thanked her proposer and seconder and fellow Members for her nomination and is looking forward to working with all the Members and Staff of Roscommon County Council in the forthcoming year.

 

Members and Director of Services extended their congratulations to Cllr. V Duffy on her election as Leas-Cathaoirleach and wished her well for the forthcoming year.

To fix dates on which the Municipal District Meetings will be held within the period to 31st

Minutes:

One application was received from Ballyforan Area Transition Team for funding from the Municipal District Micro-fund 2026.
