Rachel Lowe, Senior Engineer along with Enda Mulryan, Senior Executive Engineer, Regeneration Department, presented the Specified Development Part 8 - Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended), Planning and Development Regulations (2001) (as amended). Consideration of the CE Report for Monksland Community Hub - Ref PT8RN273 to the Members.
Members welcomed the development which will be a great resource for Monksland and surrounding areas. They thanked the Regeneration Team for all their work in the preparation of the Report.
Members noted that while the proposed development is welcomed, there are still additional facilities needed to meet the needs and demands of the community.
In response to queries from Members, Enda Mulryan outlined that the approval of the Part 8 application would allow the scheme to be further developed to the detailed design stage and for a tender pack to be prepared. It is intended that funding for the development will be sought at the next call for applications for Rural Regeneration and Development Funding (RRDF).
Caitlín Conneely, Director of Services on behalf of Roscommon County Council thanked the Members for their support. She acknowledged the work done by Regeneration Team and looking forward to seeing funding secured to develop this project.

(B)AOB.
On the Proposal of: Cllr L Fallon Seconded by: Cllr T Ward
It was AGREED by all Members to write to Bus Eireann School Transport requesting an explanation for the unreliability of the School Bus service for Secondary School Pupils in the Four Roads, Curraghboy and Rahara areas to Roscommon Town. The school bus failed to pick up students on this route on the 22nd, 24th, 25th, 26th of September and 7th October and on a number of these occasions no notice was given, leaving children on the roadside in a vulnerable position with no alternative transport. Members of Athlone MD would like to express our extreme concern and request reassurance form Bus Eireann School Transport that this situation will not happen again. .
