To consider the Draft Budget of Athlone Municipal District for financial Year ending 31st December, 2025. Minutes: The Cathaoirleach Cllr. J Keogh welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Tributes were paid to the Late Cllr. J Naughten by all the Members and Staff of Roscommon County Council. Condolences and heart felt sympathies were extended to his Wife Breda, Daughters Emma, Leah and Orlaith, His Mother Mary, siblings, and the extended Naughten families on the sad passing of John..Members requested that a letter be sent on behalf of Athlone MD to His wife Breda and daughters to express their condolences and heartfelt sympathies on the sad passing of John. May he rest in peace.
On the Proposal of: Cllr T Ward Seconded by: Cllr L Fallon The Members AGREED that the meeting be adjourned for 10 minutes as a mark of respect.
Sean Mullarkey, Head of Finance presented the Chief Executive report regarding the General Municipal Allocation and the draft Budgetary Plans for Athlone Municipal District 2025.
The total proposed General Municipal Allocation for Athlone Municipal District is €887,170 this represents an increase of €23,500 on last year’s allocations.
Sean Mullarkey outlined the increase in the budget is attributed in the main to the local property tax adjustment upwards by 15% for the period 2025 to 2029.
The allocation for Community and Enterprise project is €100,000 for each area an increase of €15,000 on last year’s allocation.
Funding for Town Teams has remained the same as last year of €12,500 for each area.
River Suck Drainage allocation is €35,000 this is a reduction of €5,000 when compared to last year’s budget.
There were increased allocations for illegal dumping, street cleaning and amenities in this year’s funding.
Funding for the roads is allocated on the same basis as last year, (33.3% Population, 33.3% Km road 33.3%Condition)
Members thanked Sean Mullarkey, Head of Finance for his presentation of the Draft Athlone MD Budget 2025. They welcomed the increased allocation for Athlone MD for 2025.
On the Proposal of: Cllr. E Kelly Seconded by: Cllr L Fallon The Members AGREED to adopt the Draft Athlone MD Budget 2025, with an amendment to include an allocation again this year from own resources of €15,000 for a LCSS. |
