ALLOCATION OF FUNDING OF €85,000 UNDER THE ATHLONE MUNICIPAL DISTRICT PROJECT FUNDING SCHEME 2016

 

At the outset of the meeting:

On the PROPOSAL of Councillor Keogh

            SECONDED by Councillor Fallon

It was AGREED to hold €20,000 in reserve for matched funding projects with a second call for applications to be made in Autumn 2017. 

 

On the PROPOSAL of Councillor Connaughton

            SECONDED by Councillor Ward

It was AGREED to adopt the allocations under the Athlone Municipal District Project Funding Scheme 2017 as follows –

 

·         South Roscommon Singers Circle                                              €3,000

·         Brideswell Pattern Festival                                                          €7,500

·         Bealnamullia Handball Alley                                                         €8,000

·         Athleague Fair & Festival                                                              €4,000

·         Cloonycolgan Community Centre                                             €5,000

·         Drum Community Centre                                                             €5,000

·         Moore Community Playground                                                €6,000

·         St John’s Community Centre                                                      €8,000

·         Tisrara Community Centre                                                           €8,500

·         FuertyCastlecoote Development Association                     €5,000

·         Kilbegnet Community Parish Hall                                              €5,000

·         Padraig Pearses GAA Club                                                            REJECTED

 

South Roscommon Singers Circle

A total of €3,000 was approved towards the cost of the following eligible works: 

·         Annual Singers Festival in the Mid and South Roscommon region to be held on the October bank holiday weekend 2017.

 

Brideswell Pattern Festival

A total of €7,500 was approved towards the cost of the following eligible works: 

·         Brideswell Pattern Festival to be held on 30th July 2017 marking the 60th Anniversary since its revival.

 

Bealnamullia Handball Alley

A total of €8,000 was approved towards the cost of the following eligible works: 

·         Supply scaffolding/hoist for works (€1,750)

·         Removal of existing plaster from back wall and re-plaster back wall (€4,100)

·         Block up openings in existing walls (€500)

·         Fit handrail on viewing area (€1,500)

·         Conceal access to walls from viewing area (€800)

 

Athleague Fair & Festival

A total of €4,000 was approved towards the cost of the following eligible works: 

·         Marquees to the value of €2,000

·         Advertising to the value of €2,000

 

Cloonycolgan Community Centre

A total of €5,000 was approved for works as outlined.

 

Drum Community Centre

A total of €5,000 was approved towards the cost of the following eligible works:

·         Installation of a wheelchair ramp to rear of premises

·         Handrail

 

Moore Community Playground

A total of €6,000 was approved for works as outlined.

 

St. John’s Community Centre

A total of €8,000 was approved towards the cost of the following eligible works:

·         Construction of a new multi-purpose training and meeting room.

 

Tisrara Community Centre

A total of €8,500 was approved towards the cost of the following eligible works:

·         Upgrade Kitchen facilities

 

FuertyCastlecoote Development Association

A total of €5,000 was approved towards the cost of the following eligible works:

·         Replace original sports floor

 

Kilbegnet Community Parish Hall

A total of €5,000 was approved towards the cost of the following eligible works:

·         Electrical upgrade works

 

Padraig Pearses GAA Club

The project was rejected on the basis that Athlone Municipal District Funding Scheme at this time does not fund GAA projects. 

 

On the PROPOSAL of Councillor Naughten

            SECONDED by Councillor Keogh

It was AGREED that all groups should acknowledge Roscommon County Council via signage.
