Matters arising from the minutes

Minutes:

·         An update was requested on the upgrade and line marking of the public car parks in Roscommon town

·         An update was requested on the planned works on the stretch from Hannon’s Hotel to the Golf Club

·         A request was made to resend the letter to the TII that was already sent following the March meeting as no reply was received

 

Neal Geraghty, A/Municipal District Co-ordinator responded to the issues raised –

·         No works will be carried out on the Castle Street car park until the development adjacent to it is complete and a new layout for this carpark is developed

·         We will carry out line marking towards the end of the year

·         We will also consider the layout of the Supervalu car park and capacity for additional wheelchair accessible spots

·         We intend to resurface the Henry Street car park before the line marking is carried out

·         The Part 8 for the stretch from Hannon’s Hotel to the Golf Club will hopefully be ready to go before the members at the July meeting but it will be a year before the full resurfacing will be carried out

Feedback from the Town Team Meetings

Minutes:

Cllr. Shanagher gave an update from the Roscommon Town Team:

·         It is intended to hold a meeting soon and an update will be provided at the next meeting

 

Cllr. Dineen and Cllr. Fitzmaurice gave an update from the Castlerea Town Team:

·         An application for funding has been submitted to Clár for 28 solar panels throughout the Demesne, from the swimming pool over to St. Kevin’s Club

·         The Castlerea Town Team AGM is coming up soon

·         The Roscommon Municipal District funding is greatly appreciated towards the installation of a sound system at the dome in Somers Park and pop up tents that will available for use at festivals and events

·         The launch of a photo exhibition will hopefully take place in July as part of the Decade of Centenaries Programme

·         Work is ongoing with groups in the town to enhance the whole area

·         Castlerea Town Team welcomes the Community Recognition Funding of €9,557 towards a sensory garden at the Library in Castlerea and €20,000 towards enhancement works at Castlerea pool for people with a disability

Requests from Councillor Shanagher:

That Roscommon County Council honour at the next civic reception the players and management of the Convent of Mercy, secondary school who won the Lidl All-Ireland Post Primary School Senior B Title”.

 

That Roscommon County Council honour at the next civic reception Josh McCormack and Evan McNeil winners of the Student Enterprise Programme. Josh and Evan are transition year students at Roscommon Community College and won the award with their product McCompactor”.

 

That Roscommon County Council honour at the next civic reception St Dominic's GAA Club who won two All-Ireland Titles at the Scór na nÓg finals for Solo Singing and their Novelty Act”.

 

That Roscommon County Council honour at the next civic reception the Roscommon Minor B Camogie team which won the All-Ireland title beating Laois”

·         The faulty pedestrian lights as you approach Roscommon Garda Station

·         Compliments on the additional work that was carried out in Roscommon town in preparation for Minister Humphreys visit

It was AGREED to write to the A/Chief Executive, Shane Tiernan, requesting that Roscommon County Council apply for Just Transition Funding to carry out a feasibility study on Edenville House.
