Presentation on Case Management System

Minutes:

Una Ni Chuinn and Cait Kenny from the Digital Transformation Team in ICT gave the Members an update on the Firmstep Case Management System, which is live in Boyle since 24th June and in Ballaghaderreen since 1st July 2019.

All calls/cases are logged through the Area office to the system with a case reference number and the case is automatically assigned to appropriate staff.  The system allows for live updates where the Council staff can assess and report on a case on site.  Councillors were informed that all calls are to be logged through the Boyle, Ballaghaderreen and Strokestown offices only going forward.  The system will have a self-service element that will be rolled out later in the year.  Councillors welcomed the Case Management System and noted that Eircodes are the easiest way of identifying the location of a case.

Minutes:

·         N4 Junctions Upgrade

Cllr. Cummins raised the matter of improvement works required as this is a dangerous junction and in danger of accidents occurring.

The Director of Services stated that the matter was progressed with the TII and the next step is that he has requested a Safety Audit to be completed by the Regional Design Office in Donegal. He will put pressure on the office to have the Audit complete as soon as possible.

·         Ballyfarnon Upgrade Works

Cllr. Cummins complimented the excellent recent works carried out in the village. He asked about the provision of a pedestrian crossing in the village.

In reply the Municipal District Coordinator Michael Conlon stated that he will carry out a traffic audit, however it is unlikely that the traffic volumes are sufficient to warrant a crossing  and also funding may not be available based on the expenditure already carried out on the works in the village. The Director of Services advised that if such works were necessary, an application for CLAR/Town and Villages scheme funding would have to be submitted.

·         Traffic Calming in Ballaghaderreen

Cllr. Mulligan requested that traffic calming measures including rumble strips are required on the approach road to Ballaghaderreen (Sligo Road).

In reply the MD Coordinator advised that such works would be a considerable project and have to be considered as part of a large capital scheme of works including traffic calming and funding would be required.

·         The Maples, Strokestown traffic Calming,

Cllr. Callaghan raised the matter of speeding on the N5 Tulsk Road approach to Strokestown at The Maples.

The MD Coordinator advised that the Head of Roads Eugene Dwyer is to undertake surveys to assess line marking and signage requirements on such roads. Cllr. Valerie Byrne asked that the Strokes town school on the Tulsk Road be included in included in any survey.

·         Pedestrian Crossings:

Cllr. Callaghan requested that a pedestrian crossing at the Drumboylan Community Centre also be assessed.

Cllr. Byrne raised the provision of a pedestrian crossing in Cortober at the train Station.

The Director of Services advised that the Council are currently awaiting final costs on the provision of a crossing at Cortober and the Head of Roads is actively seeking to fund the crossing through Low Cost Safety Funding. Due to land acquisition difficulties the footpaths scheme that was agreed to be completed in this area has to be delayed for the moment. The Council are requesting from the Department to transfer this funding on a temporary basis to install the pedestrian crossing opposite the train station and are awaiting a reply. The original scheme for the footpaths will be resubmitted in next year’s call for funding as CPO measures are necessary to move forward. The Drumboylan crossing will be assessed in the survey of other works.
