Minutes:

Cllr. Brennan commenced the meeting by officially welcoming Cllr. Ruth Connolly Conboy and Chris Flynn, Director of Services and looks forward to working with both of them.

 

There were no declarations of interest from the Members.

Matters arising from the minutes

Minutes:

An update was requested on the query sent to An Garda Síochána regarding speeding concerns at Cloonfad

Tom McDermott, Municipal District Co-ordinator read the response from An Garda Síochána as included under correspondence.

It was AGREED to send another letter to Jason Miley, Superintendent asking him to report back to the Local Authority all accidents that occur on national and regional roads

 

The speeding issue on the Galway Road was raised

Tom McDermott, Municipal District Co-ordinator reported that there was an allocation from the TII to prepare a design for the junction into Lisnamult, and he will request an update from Roads on this.

 

The late Cllr. Waldron was fondly remembered.

Feedback from the Town Team Meetings

Minutes:

Cllr. Brennan reported that there was no meeting of the Roscommon Town Team since the March municipal district meeting and therefore he had nothing new to relate.

 

Cllr. Fitzmaurice reported that there was no meeting of the Castlerea Town Team either but the Easter Egg Hunt and World Circus Day events very organised and were a great success.

 

All members thanked the volunteers who made the Darkness into Light events possible.

It was AGREED that Roscommon County Council honour John Bosco Conama who is the first hearing impaired person in Ireland to be elected to the fellowship of Trinity College

It was AGREED that Roscommon County Council honour Pierce Keadin from Cloonfad, part of a group called “Seoda” who took first place in the Siansa Gael Linn U19 music/singing competition in March 2025

 

The issue of one-hour parking in Roscommon town was discussed and in particular that the businesses off the square want to revert to the green spaces with the yellow markings as they feel this is more visual and effective than the one-hour strip markings.

Tom McDermott, Municipal District Co-ordinator agreed to look into the matter
